Silver broke below 52.96 from our last update. That's where wave iii equals wave i, the 1.0 level on the chart.

I think wave iii still has room to drop toward 50, and the 1.618 extension at 49.46 sits right there. This is a push lower inside a correction, not a reversal.

Why does 52.96 matter for XAGUSD?

Wave iii equals wave i at 52.96. That is the 1.0 relationship, the first place a third wave gets measured against the first.

Silver is now trading below it, around 52.55. A third wave that stops at 1.0 is the weak version. Price breaking through that level is the first sign this one wants more.

Where is XAGUSD inside the wave count?

The structure has a clean nested look. Wave i of the larger move bottomed near the mid-55s, wave ii retraced, and wave iii has been grinding lower since.

Inside wave iii, ③ is done, ④ is done, and ⑤ is running now to finish iii. Wave ④ was the sideways chop under 54.50, and the break below 52.96 is the ⑤ leg pushing out of it.

The 1.618 extension of wave i sits at 49.46. With 50 as the round-number magnet right above it, that zone is where I expect wave iii to complete.

What comes after wave iii?

I expect a wave iv bounce, and another leg down in wave v. The blue path on the chart shows the idea: a drop to the 50 area, a counter-trend bounce back toward the 52.5 to 53 zone, then the final push lower.

That bounce will feel like a reversal to a lot of traders. It is a fourth wave. Fourth waves exist to shake out people who think the trend is over.

Is this a trend reversal in silver?

No. Zoom out and we're still in the red correction from the (c) high. The chart shows that high labeled as the end of a larger structure, with (a), (b) and (c) already behind us.

What we are watching now is another impulsive sequence down inside that correction. Impulsive moves lower inside a correction do not mean the correction is over. Treat every bounce as part of the count until the structure says otherwise.

This is analysis of how the wave structure reads, not a signal to act on.

  • •The 1.618 extension at 49.46 and the round 50 level mark the zone where XAGUSD wave iii is expected to complete.
  • •After wave iii, the XAGUSD count calls for a wave iv bounce and then a final wave v leg lower.
  • •Silver remains inside the red correction from the (c) high, so the current drop is a push lower within it, not a reversal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is 52.96 important for the XAGUSD Elliott Wave count?

52.96 is where wave iii equals wave i, the 1.0 relationship on the chart. Silver trading below it suggests wave iii is extending rather than stopping at equality.

Where does the XAGUSD wave iii target sit?

The 1.618 extension at 49.46 is the target zone, with the round 50 level just above it. The count has ⑤ running now to finish wave iii in that area.

Is the silver drop a reversal or a correction?

It is a push lower inside the red correction from the (c) high, not a reversal. After wave iii completes, the count expects a wave iv bounce and then another leg down in wave v.
